From a recorded lecture to notes you can study
Listening and writing at the same time means missing one or the other. Record the lecture in Prabgun, or upload a recording you already have, then read the transcript and build study material from what was said in class.
Who it is for
- Students in lecture-heavy classes who find it hard to listen and take notes at once
- Anyone who already records classes on a phone and never goes back to the recordings
- Students who want flashcards or a quiz on what the lecturer said, not only on the slides
How it works
- 1
Record or upload
Press Record to capture the lecture in your browser, with Pause, Resume and Stop as you go, or upload a recording you already have as an MP3, M4A, WAV, WebM or Ogg file.
- 2
Read the transcript
Choose Read this lecture and Prabgun writes out what was said. The transcript stays with the lecture in your account.
- 3
Turn it into study material
In AI Study, choose the lecture as your source and make notes, a summary, a study guide, flashcards or a quiz from it, the same way you would from your own notes.
Making a recording worth studying from
Keep the tab open
Recording happens in the browser tab. It stops if you close the tab or the browser, and may stop if your phone locks, so keep the page open until you save.
Sit where you can hear
A transcript can only be as clear as the recording. A seat nearer the speaker helps more than anything you can do afterwards.
Study from it the same week
A full transcript is long. Turning it into a summary or a quiz while the class is fresh makes it something you will actually come back to.
Check names and numbers
Names, figures and technical terms are where a transcript is most likely to slip. Compare anything that matters with your slides or textbook.
Good to know
- Ask before you record. Your school, your instructor and the law where you are may all have rules about recording a class, and Prabgun does not ask anyone's permission or check whether you were allowed to record.
- How long one recording can be, the largest file you can upload and how many minutes you can transcribe each month depend on your plan. Your email address needs to be verified first.
- AI-generated study material can be wrong. Prabgun works from the material you give it and is instructed to say when your notes do not cover something, but check anything that matters against your class notes and textbook.
- Each time you press Create uses one of your plan's monthly AI generations, and your email address needs to be verified first. The pricing page lists how many generations each plan includes.
Questions
Can I upload a recording I already have?
Yes. Upload one audio file at a time as MP3, M4A, WAV, WebM or Ogg. Video files are not accepted, and the largest file you can upload depends on your plan.
What happens if I close the tab while recording?
The recording stops, so keep the tab open until you save. If a recording reaches your plan's length limit, it stops there and keeps everything recorded up to that point.
Who can see my recordings and transcripts?
They are stored with your account and are not shared with other students. You can delete a recording and its transcript yourself at any time; anything you made from them is kept until you delete it too.
Is it included on the free plan?
Yes. Every plan includes some transcription time each month, and the paid plans include more.
